She grew up on a dairy farm. Even as a little girl she would sit in a tree near the barn inventing stories. Sometimes she wrote them down and tucked them away.
After college she decided to travel around the world, where she encountered the love of her life. They married and had 3 children and her mothering years didn’t leave much time for writing.
In the 1990’s, as her children were leaving the nest, Yoka had the unique opportunity to take part in a cross-culture camp in the Yukon Territory. Her desire to write a story was back!
”Summer of Fireweed” springs from her zest and zeal for life; it is inspired by the magic and splendor of that remote country and the unique character of its people.
