We traveled extensively on the East Coast of Australia with our Carnival, attending the local school in the towns along the way. When World War 2 started in 1939 the shows were discontinued and our Carnival was placed in storage. In 1942 I attended a bush school of less than 15 students to complete my schooling and attain a Diesel Engineering qualification at aged 15. Being interested in engineering design I designed and built a house of 50 squares in an elevated circular configuration in the shape of a space ship. The purpose of this radical shape was to withstand cyclonic wind from all points of the compass.view less
