They managed to escape via Hungary to Austria, where, like Leni in this story, Katharina in her late teens, emigrated alone to Canada. On the north shore of Lake Athabasca, she met and married a Spaniard. Eventually, they settled on the West Coast of Vancouver Island then Victoria, where, Katharina still resides.view less
