He received his A.B. at the University of Pennsylvania and his M.A. and Ph.D. at West Virginia University, where he was an Assistant Professor of History. He was also a journalist and for a short time with the International News Service.
He passed away in 1997 aged 89 and rests at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia.view less
