Born in Charleston, South Carolina, she studied at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington and received many blue ribbons in professional class art exhibits at the fair. She was a graduate of Converse College. In 1939 she opened her own interior decorating shop and operated it for 40 years. She published her book Charleston Ghosts in 1963.view less
