Born in York, England, he emigrated to the then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) with his father who had had distinguished war service in Burma, and his mother. Completing his undergraduate education in medicine in Rhodesia, Dr White spent 3 years in the Rhodesia Army as a Medical Officer in the front line of the bush war in Operation Hurricane. During that time he witnessed the best and worst of the human condition. After 18 years of general medical practice in South Africa, Dr White studied for a post graduate degree in Diagnostic Radiology. Radiology is possibly the most important specialty in medicine, as the imaging and the reporting thereon most often determines the diagnosis and treatment protocol. If the diagnosis is incorrect, the refering clinician is acting on false information and there are detrrimental consequences for the patient. Radiology teaches thoroughness, dedication, humility and above all responsibility. Throughout his life Dr White has sought to better his contribution and growth with service as his goal. Dr White pursued spiritual and material improvement as a life-long passion and believed in the power of words to effect change. He avidly collected prose and quotes that inspired the spirit and read as many inspirational self-help books as he could find, believing that if he could find a single flash of inspiration and truth the search and expense was worthwhile. After a lifetime of experience and seeing the good and bad in the world, Dr White is the eternal optimist and realised that he could make a difference to people’s lives by sharing his beliefs and passion. It was from this desire to contribute that Hey Dude! Win at Everything was researched and written.view less
