She was one of nine children.Margaret immigrated to the US in 1931 and moved to Chicago to live with a sister and an aunt. She met her husband Joe several years later and were married in 1938. She and Joe owned a German restaurant on the near north side of Chicago that featured live entertainment over WCFL radio. They moved to Glenview in the Chicago suburbs in 1955 and that's about the time that Margaret began writing River's Requiem. She worked on the book for the next 20 years, drawing on her knowledge of life in a small German town and on the history of Germany from the time of the Romans to the late 1940s.The novel was never published and Margaret passed away in 1982. Her son, Joeseph, has prepared this book for publication.view less
