She graduated from Mossyrock High School in 1917, and worked in the War Department in Washington, D.C., during World War I. Other adventures included driving a Model T Ford to Yellowstone Park in 1923 and working at a herring saltery in Alaska in 1925. She married Charles O. Dale in 1926, and the couple lived in Seattle and raised two children. She worked on writing the Memoirs, as well as short stories, over many years.view less
