Phil first became interested in flying during high school. He pursued his interest through college earning early pilot ratings, then joined the U.S. Army where he saw action as a combat helicopter gunship pilot in Vietnam in 1969.
Phil is now retired and enjoys the quiet country life in southern Michigan with his wife Margaret and their dog Animosh.
