In reporting for Forbes and other publications over the last two decades, he has skied to the South Pole; flown in a MiG-25 at Mach 2.6 to the edge of space; driven the Bugatti Veyron at its top speed of 253 miles per hour and Indy cars at over 200 miles per hour; climbed the Matterhorn, 23,000-foot Aconcagua and virgin peaks in Greenland and Antarctica; and visited the North Pole twice. He has also purchased a ticket from Virgin Galactic Airways to fly into suborbital space.
Clash started at Forbes in 1993 as a reporter, and in 1996 was promoted to staff writer. In 1998, he wrote a pivotal story on hedge funds, warning investors of risks and high expenses. When Long Term Capital Management collapsed six months later, Forbes ran a national advertising campaign ("Business Reporting as Tough as Business Itself") themed around his story, and he was promoted to associate editor. In 2000, Clash founded the “Forbes Adventurer” column and, in 2006, added a web video show. His books -- Forbes To the Limits (John Wiley & Sons, 2003) and The Right Stuff: Interviews with Icons of the 1960s (AskMen, 2012) -- have received critical acclaim.
Clash, a member of the American Alpine Club and a resident of New York, has an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of Maryland.view less
