Her short stories have appeared in anthologies, ezines and print journals, including Family Matters: Murder New York Style,which she edited; Fresh Slices and Deadly Debut, also from the Murder New York Style series; The Gift of Murder (Wolfmont Press), The Prosecution Rests (Little, Brown), The Back Alley, Word Riot, Mysterical-e, Mouth Full of Bullets, Heresies, and Ball State University Forum. She received a Derringer Award from the Short Mystery Fiction Society in 2010 for "'Twas the Night," which appeared in The Gift of Murder
Anita, a native Brooklynite, moved with her family to the Catskills in the mid-Seventies, and from there to New York's Hudson Valley. While in the Catskills, she worked as a freelance feature writer for a regional newspaper. There, too, she met the inspiring women who became the model for Hannah Fox's Women of Action in Damned If You Don't.
