He is married to Anne and they have three children – Danann, Óban and Íosla – as well as four grandchildren – Shona, Aoibheann, Evan and Bodhi Rae. He spent almost forty years as a lecturer in Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick. He has won many Oireachtas literature prizes as well as the Butler Literary Award.view less
