He is a product of the New York City school system and a graduate of Barber-Scotia College, Concord, N.C. where he e...view moreJvictor Black was born April 16, 1952 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He is a product of the New York City school system and a graduate of Barber-Scotia College, Concord, N.C. where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. In 1996, he moved to Kingstree, South Carolina to pursue a career in Journalism where he landed a job with “The News” as a reporter. He soon began distinguishing himself as a hard working reporter, uncovering irregularities in the Kingstree Town Council. He moved to “The Lake City News and Post” later that year, where in 1998, he earned his first South Carolina Press Association Award for Enterprise Reporting. Promoted in 1999, to editor of “The Weekly Observer” in Hemingway SC., he won his second South Carolina Press Association Award for Feature Writing. Black also worked for “The Florence Morning News” and “The Sumter Item.” He now resides in Columbia, SC, where he lives with his wife, Debra. He enjoys scuba diving and is a member of Union Baptist Church.view less
