I served as ambassador in the Central African Republic and in Rwanda in the years after the genocide. All told I have worked in fifteen African countries. I started as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya. Africa is the inspiration for my fiction and the locale of my memoir, In the Aftermath of Genocide - the U.S. Role in Rwanda.view less
