The first one was published in 1973 (THE PLAYER, Saturday Review Press) and his latest, 2008 (THE TRIALS OF KATE HOPE, Houghton Mifflin.) He used his real name, Warwick Downing, for the first eight. That was also the name of his grandfather, a tough old table-pounding lawyer of the old school. Wick is also a lawyer and has spent most of his life trying to be his grandfather. But not any more. From now on, he'll use his nick-name: Wick. He loved his grandfather, but was never a table-pounder. Not his style. He likes who he is: Wick.
