Brown received a master’s degree in communications from Georgia S...view moreCindi Brown grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia, and earned her BS in Communications from Kennesaw State University. Brown received a master’s degree in communications from Georgia State University. At the age of 40, Brown chose to work through Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) as marketing and communication advisor to the Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK) in Kenya. Brown records her experiences in "Poverty and Promise: One Volunteer’s Experience of Kenya." Prior to volunteering, Brown worked as Marketing Manager for Experian. For ten years, Ms. Brown wrote for a monthly entertainment newspaper before working at The Coca-Cola Company’s world headquarters in Atlanta. Her combined academic, journalistic, and corporate experience provided a rich background for working in international development. Ms. Brown manages Just One Voice, a non-profit publishing firm she founded to support GLUK through the sale of books covering international development issues.view less
