Having been born in New Jersey and denied her original birth certificate, Ms. Kaufman spent twenty-four years searching for her birth family. Although she loved her adoptive parents, she still felt a need to understand her roots, know where she came from, and why, and perhaps get some vital medical history. Advocating for adoptee rights, she is still waiting for New Jersey to pass a law allowing adoptees to get their birth certificates.As a former Weight Watchers leader, Ms. Kaufman actively promotes a healthy lifestyle, all the while, struggling with her diet on a daily basis.
