Moore masterfully includes in the pages of Out of Da Nang the challenges of becoming a pilot in the Marine Corps as well as flying UH34D Sikorsky choppers under combat conditions in Viet Nam. Moore flew one tour of duty in Viet Nam and was awarded the DFC and Vietnamese Cross of Valor for a mission he participated in while flying out of Da Nang.
Following his tour in Viet Nam, Moore was transferred to NAS Pensacola in Florida to train student aviators for the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. Completing that mission he used the skills the Marine Corps gave him to become a commercial pilot for Western Airlines (later Delta) where he flew for 31 years, retiring in 1998 as a captain on the 757/767. He has traveled the world, from the U.S. to Asia and all points in between.
Moore attended Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, before entering the Marines with full intentions of becoming a high school teacher and football coach before answering his call to fly for the Corps. Moore has been married for 36 years and has raised two sons and one daughter. He now resides in San Clemente, California, and hopes to raise funds for various veterans groups through sales of this book.view less
