He has supported himself through freelance writing since 2009 and is the author of two young adult novels as well as over 2,000 non-fiction articles on topics related to getting and staying out of financial trouble. Shula considers himself an advocate for suicide prevention in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community as well as the Autistic community.
