He holds a B.S. in Political Science with an emphasis on International Studies. For five years he worked at Minuteman Missile National Historic Site close to Wall, South Dakota where he told the story of the Minuteman Missile's role in the Cold War. His interest in Eastern Europe and Hungary grew from this experience. He also has compelling interests in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the First World War in Eastern Europe and Hungarian history.
