He is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Boston University Law School. He speaks and teaches several languages and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central and South America. He writes about places where he has traveled and lived. He is a sailing enthusiast, private pilot, accomplished alpine climber, trap and pistol marksman, and enjoys fly-fishing and skiing.
