Originally from Iowa, I spent a lot of time on my grandpa’s farm. We were always warned, “Stay out of the pig pen!”
Having not listened back then and being a bit of a mud wallower myself, I love Pig.
I am Pig.
In many ways I think a lot of us can relate to his antics.
Don’t we all want a little more freedom and a lot more fun?
How many times do we go our own way and end up in a pig pen?
Man makes his plans, but God directs his steps.
For years I’ve been in the real estate industry, but I made a decision in the midst of my own personal chaos to pursue a path of purpose and passion.
I decided to spend more time doing what I love. Music, reading and writing have always been my greatest escapes.
The story of Pig is true, but also a tall tale, because, well, pigs don’t really talk.
Today I live in a charming town in the Texas hill country, have three beautiful girls and I really don’t know how to juggle....my life or a ball.
But I’m learning.
A NOTE FROM THE ILLUSTRATOR, SARAH TOLLESON
Born and raised in San Antonio, my life long dream of being able to illustrate a children’s book has come true.
I’ve been drawing and painting passionately for as long as I can remember. When I was about three or four years old, I proudly and without hesitation drew a life size mural of an elevator on my parent’s front room wall. I remember thinking, “It really works, now that I’ve drawn it!...tee heehee.”
In 5th grade, I had the first taste of what it was like to show my work publicly when my watercolor painting of an "Iris" was chosen out of a select group of children around the United States to be displayed at the opening of The Children’s Museum in Houston, Texas.
It wasn’t the painting that I would have picked, but now I know it was the one. That’s how life is and it makes it fun to share your heart and soul through colorful paintings.
With my parent’s love and God blessing me with all the wonderful people along the way, I am the mother, the artist, the person I am today.
I have painted Pig in prayer and with love and tons of gratitude in my heart, but the paintings wouldn’t be there without the story.view less
