A graduate of Appalachian State University, she obtained her degree in English and served as the sports editor of her collegiate newspaper, The Appalachian. Stephens is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking held at the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves as the Senior Market Executive of the Coastal Region for North State Bank. She was born and raised in the Piedmont of North Carolina and is the middle child of the set of identical triplets.
