I have written hundreds of short stories. For years, people have said to me, “Phyll, you should write books.” So I did. I began this book on a plane when I was on my way to see my eldest son Kyle graduate from Navy boot camp. I wrote stories often on planes whenever I flew; it was a habit. Usually my stories were about some funny thing that had just happened to me. I wrote one because some people needed directions to my house (as odd as that sounds). I wrote a short story that contained the directions. My guests just laughed!
It took eleven years to write this book what with time out for work, illness, and who knows what else. But it has been a work of love, and I have found so much laughter and entertainment in writing it. I guess you could say that this book is for all those who thought I could not write, as well as for those who thought I should.
I have lived a life full of adventure, play, wonder, movies, and stories. I have always been amazed at what people will listen too. When I have told my stories, people’s faces have just lit up when something struck their funny bone or evoked a personal memory. That above all brought joy to me. The pretend world is a place I go where I can find any adventure I want, and I never have to leave my front porch. To lie in the soft green clover at the neighborhood park and look up into the sky and picture all the wonders of the world is a playground within itself.
I sincerely hope that, no matter what age you are, you will allow your imagination to see the beautiful pictures and the endless stories that go with them throughout your life.view less
