I was born in 1939 in Tarrant County, Texas, in a cabin on the banks of Village Creek My uncle Ruben Gardner rode a horse to get the doctor from nearby Arlington. At the age of six, I moved to Decatur, Texas. I graduated from The University of Texas, Texas Christian University, and the University of Houston.
