A graduate of Lehigh University, he concluded after a few years of practicing engineering that the world would be safer without his involvement in bridges, dams and tall buildings. He reinvented himself as a public relations writer, eventually becoming an executive with one of the largest firms in the field; his postings included New York City, Brussels and Washington, D.C. He later owned his own company for ten years. Upon retiring, he began to pursue a lifelong ambition to write books.
