Tom Phelan was born in New York City on lower 8th Avenue and is now residing in Ramsey, New Jersey.
Tom started writing in 1980. Since then he has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers throughout the United States and in Dublin, Ireland. He won seven Golden Poet Awards, three international Poet of Merit Awards, First Place in the New York Poetry Society contest and First Place in Bergen County New Jersey Poetry contest. The New Jersey Institute of Technology present Phelan with an ‘Author’s Award’ for his book ‘A Point Beyond Silence. He won poetry’s Gold Medal of Honor from the World of Poetry.
Tom Phelan has been featured in the New York Times ‘On Books’ column by Shirley Horner. He is the author of five books, three of which are poetry.
There are more of his accomplishments in writing as well as in his life. He is a former veteran of WWII and the Korean War, hand to hand combat in the streets of New York as a Police Officer, Private Investigator and Security Advisor to the US Delegate to the Mid-East and the Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations.
Tom Phelan is semi-retired in the investigative field and is continuing to write more books.view less
