About this audiobook

This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice.

The Power of Darkness, a play by Leo Tolstoy, delves into the tragic story of a peasant named Nikita. He abandons a young orphan, Marinka, after seducing her. Driven by greed and manipulation, his new wife, Anisiya, murders her own husband to be with Nikita. The play's darkness deepens as Nikita, under Anisiya's influence, impregnates his stepdaughter and ultimately murders the newborn. Consumed by guilt and despair, Nikita confesses his crimes on his stepdaughter's wedding day, bringing the play to a stark and powerful conclusion.
