It took me a while to read this book, recommended to me by my husband. I just couldn't get past the title and cover. I literally judged a book by its cover.
Eventually, I read it to get my husband to stop asking me to read it. I'm so glad I did. The principles and truths brought healing into areas of my life where I didn't realize I was still holding onto offense. While I did not often like the deliver and language style Bevere used, I was personally able to get past that to the point he was trying to make. I would understand why his style would be a total turnoff to others.
Doctrinally, I'm not sure if I can agree with every stance Bevere takes, but I was able to let the Holy Spirit reveal new truth to me the John Bevere and this book. Therefore, I give a solid 4 stars and can recommend it, trusting that others will be able to filter out what it is they need to get from this book.2 people found this helpful

For the past year I noticed that I was being offended by everything and even the tiniest things. I had to forgive the very same people everyday for the very same offense. Two to three times daily I was having to forgive everyone over and over again for the same incident. I didn't understand why these same things that I would forgive a person for was bothering me and tormenting weeks and months later. This happened day in and day out. I couldn't figure it out. I didn't know what I was doing wrong. I forgave these people multiple times a day and still I was being tormented by something they did months ago. There was a very important element that I wasn't aware of and that was releasing the people who offended me. I would forgive them and still suffered as if I hadn't forgiven them. Now I have been able to release a lot of people from the everything that I held on to and I am completely liberated from the many months or years of torment. Thank You so much God for giving John Bevere this very important message to us all. Praise You Abba Father I am free!!! Thank You so much Jesus!!! Thank You so much Holy Spirit!!!1 person found this helpful

WOW, what a gem! Thank you, author!
I appreciate all of the personal accounts which serve as well chosen examples of each point! Also, I like the broadness of scope which has been covered under the subject of offense,,the myriad ways in which one may become offended and by what, but also included are ways to recognize certain messages from God. This book is very helpful, I am sure, to anybody who is alive and willing to improve their character in the name of God. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

The teaching unforgiveness is excellent however, there are two theological views that he holds that I do not agree with. So I’m left with a neutral opinion on the book. He does say some hard things which are very convicting, but then the things that he said that I don’t agree with or terribly wrong.
If you do read it, read with the spirit of openness for conviction and discernment for things that don’t sit right with your convictions. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Life changing. Simply life-changing.
John does a great job of being detailed enough to understand exactly where the enemy comes in, yet he's broad enough to allow for your own experiences to come through. Must read for anyone who thinks & breathes. ? - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

The author starts from Matthew 24:10 which talks about a time when the majority of people will be offended. He contends that when we take offense to something, we do so because we are hurt by it, and our natural reaction to hurt is to build up walls (or strongholds) against being hurt again. The problem with this is that, when push comes to shove, we will choose to protect ourself over someone else that we have a relationship with (betrayal).Satan uses offense as a weapon against us. If we can learn to not let offense fester, we rob Satan of one of his weapons. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

The destructiveness that ensues if offenses are not forgiven. Simplistic, but a needed message.
