She grew up in Ojai, California, and developed a fascination with the Romans when a college friend gave her Rosemary Sutcliff’s books to read.     Very good. I tried two of her other books but couldn't get into them. This one is very good so now I'd like to try the others again and her other books.

    I like her recreation of life in Roman Britain and Italy. It's quite believable and brings it alive.
