About this audiobook
Trauma takes up real space within us, and it can be so difficult to hold. How do we access that place of longing and loss, of fragmented memory and grief? How do we carry it as we walk in the world? There’s no map for this, no clear path through the internal landscape it reshapes, no easy way to make meaning of our lives in that disoriented state. Mariella Saavedra Carquin confronts hard truths in this powerful debut collection, pushing through layered complexities of immigration, race, and identity to find a way forward.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Maps You Can't Make - These poems reach out and touch the core of my being, stirring emotions I could not describe. They awaken, in me, a profound energy that sometimes eludes expression. As I immersed myself in these lines and the sounds of Mariella's voice, they opened a path leading me through the tangled recesses of my psyche, ones that are hidden away. In the delicate words of Mariella, they construct a gateway for me to fathom the perplexing depths of my soul that too often remain silent. These words help me see that the river where I seek (re)orientation is not a figment of my imagination, but it dried up, and in that realization, I reach out and ask for help.
My heart is full; thank you, Mariella!
