About this audiobook
When the life Audre aspired to live proves to be unfulfilling and painful, she retreats to the place she had hastily abandoned. Will the pleasant surprises of the return journey be enough to prepare her for life-altering changes that await for her at home? The sudden departure of their daughter was the first domino of misfortune to fall for Reverend and Mother Hurt. Can Audre's return reconcile their losses or will the assumptions that drove them apart fester into a permanent wedge of misunderstanding?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have been meaning to read this book for several years and am glad I finally did. The author is an old classmate of mine from our days in Detroit. The book centers around a young woman named Audre who decides to leave her hometown of Memphis. Her parents forced her to stay in Memphis for college, despite the fact that she wanted to leave the city and see more. Audre found herself in Washington D.C. in an abusive relationship when she makes a quick decision to return to Memphis. The story goes back-and-forth between earlier times with her family and present day both on the airplane home and once arriving back to her childhood home. This was a beautiful story about family dynamics, finding oneself and finally finding love. I especially enjoyed the narration and look forward to reading more of Sabin Prentis Duncan's books.
