About this audiobook
THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SPOKEN WORD POETRY COLLECTION FROM LANA DEL REY, VIOLET BENT BACKWARDS OVER THE GRASS
'Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is the title poem of the book and the first poem I wrote of many. Some of which came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem. They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I’m proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic.' Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey brings her breathtaking poetry to life in an unprecedented audiobook. In this stunning spoken-word performance, Lana Del Rey reads fourteen poems from her debut book Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass accompanied by music from Grammy Award-winning musician Jack Antonoff.
Lana’s debut book solidifies her further as 'the essential writer of her times' (The Atlantic). This audiobook features Lana reading select poems from the book, including LA Who Am I to Love You?, The Land of 1,000 Fires, Past the Bushes Cypress Thriving, Never to Heaven, Tessa DiPietro, Happy and several others. The result is an extraordinary poetic landscape that reflects the unguarded spirit of its creator.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is one of the most overstimulating audiobook where Lana showcases her poem. It drawn as but sometimes.. its too much
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I’m not sure what to think about this one. There were some very good poems, enjoyable even, but others sounded like a rambling of a ternager trying to be deep. I’m happy that she was the narrator here, but personally would like it even more if the background music and other noises weren’t present.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Candid, beautiful, gentle, quietly and humbly inspiring. I was completely captivated.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a beautiful book and a great experience overall.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lana Del Rey - Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass
It was such a watery, sensitive, fundamental, poetic, beautiful, crucial, 38 minute-long, pretty, picturesque, fascinating look and view into Lana Del Rey's mind, soul and brain.
Lana Del Rey is one of the greatest poets of our time. Her poetry is very clear, sometimes minimalistic, sometimes detailed, watery and airy - with those two elements, in both metaphorical and physical sense. You can relate to it, even though when you aren't the same star sign, gender, from the same country...It's so universal.
Lana Del Rey has perfect vocabulary, she knows different nuances and shades of words, her vocabulary is plastic, she paints the enviroment and the universe around her, both inner and outer.
Lana Del Rey is pretty equilibrated and peaceful after even all those things she has ever survived and exoerienced.
Anyone who likes poetry, especially very complex and minimalistic could or should listen to Lana Del Rey's masterpiece.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love the poems!! They definitely don't feel standard. My favourite portrait was "the land of a 1000 fires", the atmosphere the audio creates is unmatched.
