She has a B.A. degree in Earth Sciences from Dartmouth College, an M.Sc. degree in Carbon Management from The University of Edinburgh, and a Ph.D. degree in Marine Geology that was jointly awarded by The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. She has worked as a geologist all over the world, including in North America, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. She writes a geology blog called Georneys.
