About this audiobook

A sacred oath, a fallen angel, a forbidden love...

This darkly romantic story features our heroine, Nora Grey, a seemingly normal teenage girl with her own shadowy connection to the Nephilim, and super-alluring bad boy, Patch, now her deskmate in biology class. Together they find themselves at the centre of a centuries-old feud between a fallen angel and a Nephilim…

Forced to sit next to Patch in science class, Nora attempts to resist his flirting, though gradually falls for him against her better judgment. Meanwhile creepy things are going on with a mysterious stalker following her car, breaking into her house and attacking her best friend, Vi. Nora suspects Patch, but there are other suspects too - not least a new boy who has transferred from a different college after being wrongly accused of murdering his girlfriend. And he seems to have taken a shine to Nora...

Love certainly is dangerous... and someone is going to have to make the ultimate sacrifice for it.

I got on a fallen angel kick recently. I can't remember how but somehow I got the urge. I'd seen this book briefly pop up on Amazon so when I saw it sitting on the library shelf I picked it up and tried it. I think it would have been okay staying on the library shelf. I think the only thing that kept me reading was the suspense of figuring out how everything related. The writing is not so bad, but the story left me blinking in confused disappointment. The characters are mostly flat; it's all the action that seems to give them life. Take that away and there's no character development here. Patch rubbed me the wrong way. I wanted to like him but I didn't most of the time, and Nora annoyed me half the time. Vee I didn't like. I did like Elliott until halfway through. There are too many twists and turns and it makes for a less than smooth reading. Props on the idea and the attempted story but it didn't pull through for me. But, okay, not horrible either. So, three stars: it was okay.

I absolutely loved this book - it was an entertaining and fresh page turner that I simply could not put down (I tried, and after 30 minutes of tossing in bed, I just had to get up and finish it!). The authors writing style was excellent, combining romance, lust, suspense, mystery and humor with very realistic characters. If you like paranormal romances, this is a very good read! As a side note - the book was rated a "14 & Up", which I thought was a very appropriate age recommendation (due to references of desire and sex, the story itself didn't get past the kissing stage)

I suck at reviews because I don’t think too critically about books, so I am just going to say a few things about why I gave this book 4 stars. (It’d be more like 3.5 if that were an option).I was totally enthralled in the story and I was compelled to keep reading despite my being very sleepy. The mystery and suspense was laid on thicker than I’d expected, in a good way. I’m usually very quick to figure out stories and usually by the climax I’m just tying up loose ends, but on this one, I had to go along for the ride. Like with most stories, there are some things that could’ve been done better, but it wasn’t “confusing” to me at all. In fact, the various plot points worked very well for me, and I think the author did a good job everything together.I thought that the characters were believable and that they were written smartly. I am a firm believer that all fictional characters fit some stereotype, so there will always be a person who says they were “stereotypical.” But with that being said, I didn’t think any of them were over the top, even Vee who was bordering on excessive. Nora was a good narrator and I was able to follow along with her very well. I’ve read other reviews that mentioned her being ‘unrealistic’ but I remind myself that she’s in an impossible [see: unrealistic] situation. Patch is my favorite character, he is genuinely mysterious and I found him both appealing and repulsive… which is a lot better than mundane.I was more than moderately surprised at how good the writing was, because I am a little too used to authors trying too hard to sound like teenagers that I’m insulted at how stupid they must think they/we are. I couldn’t put the book down and I was pleased with the ending.

Nora is a good girl and meets the new, bad guy, Patch. Patch is mysterious and dangerous and appears to be her "guardian" angel. Enter the bad guy, Elliot. The new transfer student who may have been involved in a murder at his previous school. Of course, we can't forget Nora's sarcastic best friend Vee who is all about guys and sex.I found this story similar to the Twilight series minus the vamps and adding fallen angels. Similarities are: Nora and Bella are dull and just plain helpless and Patch and Edward are those mysterious bad boys that love to be in control. I am not a big fan of Twilight, but I like the premise of fallen angels in Hush, Hush and I hoped this book could have been better. The front cover is fabulous, but the content within the covers is not motivating me to go out and get the sequel.

Narrated by Caitlin Greer. More of a two-and-a-half star rating for me. *SPOILER* Nora meets an intense, handsome boy at school who at once repels and attracts her. Hmmm, sounds suspiciously like "Twilight." But in this case Patch is a fallen angel who is strongly attracted to Nora even as he is directed to kill her in order to right his fallen status. It also turns out that Nora's new acquaintances Elliott and Jules are not who she thinks they are, especially Jules. There are sensual descriptions as the sparks fly between Nora and Patch, but like Twilight, there is no sex, nothing graphic. Greer makes an adequate audio presentation but otherwise this romance didn't do much for me.

I swoon over the idea of an angelic boyfriend. There’s something so hot and so bad about an angel who wants you. It’s the ultimate kink: angels are supposed to be above human lust. I particularly love stories about fallen angels. I find it fascinating to read about pure, celestial beings who exercise free will and opt for humanity over divinity. The fallen angels in Hush, Hush want exactly that: a human body, with which to feel physical sensation. Their fallen bodies are numb. At first, I didn’t buy fallen angel Patch’s love for main character Nora, but it soon becomes clear he develops an emotional attachment to her after spending so much time with her. The lore in the book is a little dicey—the fallen can trick Nephilim into swearing fealty to them, allowing the fallen to possess said Nephilim for two weeks each year, and sacrificing a descendant of the Nephilim vassal will turn a fallen angel human—but I choose to not dwell on it too much, because if I do, then I’ll also have to consider how Patch seems to hate Nora for the first part of the book. Becca Fitzpatrick plants enough seeds to help convince me Patch conceals his thoughts and emotions behind a bad boy persona. (He’s an unlikeable ass, to be honest.) I anticipate seeing a softer side to Patch in subsequent books. (AT LEAST I’D BETTER!) I’m intrigued enough by the implications of the Nephilim/human bloodline to want to continue the series. (It’s the genealogy geek in me.) This debut novel has its problems, but I’m more than willing to give the rest of the series a chance!

booknook — Young Adult book reviewsBefore starting Hush, Hush, I was about 120 pages into Seraphina by Rachel Hartman and totally stuck. So when I cast Seraphina aside unfinished, I was grumpy and wanted an awesome book. Hush, Hush totally sucked me in. It took me two days to get through 120 pages of Seraphina, but only about two hours to get through the same amount of pages in Hush, Hush. Man, I was hooked! This book is intriguing. Hush, Hush is so full of mystery that it totally draws you in and has you begging for more. I wanted to find answers! I wanted to know the truth! What the heck was going on??Okay, Vee isn't the main character; she's actually Nora's best friend. But I'm going to start with her because she is awesome! I'll admit she did start annoying me in the second half of the book, but in the first half she is absolutely hilarious! She's a little crazy, and some might say she's a little too carefree, but I adored her! I wish I had a best friend like her! But then in the second half I feel like she became a little clueless and seemed to have very little common sense.Nora was a good character too, but in hindsight, there wasn't much about her that drew me in. I didn't think about this at all when I was reading, but looking back, she doesn't stand out that much. She is really curious though and I love her determination to get to the bottom of things. I feel like I totally wouldn't be like that. If there was a weird guy in my biology class I'd just write him off as being a weirdo. I wouldn't be determined to find out more and convinced that there was something paranormal about him!The one thing I didn't like in this book was the romance. I didn't hate it, but I just didn't resonate with it. I felt like it came out of nowhere. I mean, Patch and Nora barely know each other. They never talk. Patch seems to magically know facts about Nora and her life, but she knows nothing about him and they only hung out socially once. Then suddenly he's all like, "I care about you more than anything," and throwing out all sorts of similar phrases that basically equate to "I love you more than my own life." I was just like, "woah, slow down, where did that come from?" I mean other than the sexual tension (which I'd consider lust rather than actual romance/love), I felt like there was very little there. Most of the book is about Nora trying to figure out Patch by interrogating other people about him. They only actually sit down and chat with each other two or three times.Another thing that caused me to not get sold on the romance was Patch himself. I had a hard time believing in his feelings for Nora when we learned that he'd been in love twice before. I mean, I know it's possible to love more than one person in your life, but seeing it in writing (especially when combined with the almost-insta-love described above) kind of cheapened it for me. I couldn't help but think: how are your feelings for Nora so special when there have already been two other women in your life that you fell head over heels in love with?I thought that the fallen angel story was absolutely awesome. In fact, I was a little bummed that we didn't get more of it (maybe in later books?). I was dying to learn more about the angels' history, their rules, their hierarchy, and so on.The main thing that Hush, Hush has going for it is that it's a quick read — not in length, but in the way it hooked me in. I was interested! I wanted to know what happened next so I read and read and read, with very few breaks! If it weren't for the fast moving, totally enticing plot, I probably would have given this book three stars because of all my little annoyances. But most of those things I didn't even think about until afterwards when I was reflecting on the book. In the moment, I was just focused on how addicted I was to reading the book and figuring out what would happen next.I definitely think there's a cool story here and I'll be picking up the second book! Reading Hush, Hush was also kind of a test because Becca Fitzpatrick will be in London in November and I decided that if I liked Hush, Hush I'd attend her book signing! So it looks like I'll probably be going!

I had high hopes for this book, it had a lot of ratings with an average of 4.0 and I saw it on a goodreads list to read and the plot sounded good. In the first part of the book, I almost stopped reading the characters were annoying me but I continued on, hoping that things would get better. Even after everything was revealed, there was nothing there to make me say, this was a great book. I liked the main character Nora for the most part, but every time she had a scene with Patch, I was just so annoyed with her. I did not like the other characters, I found Vee annoying and that doesn't hold a candle to how I feel about Patch. I get he was suppose to be the bad boy but there is a difference between hard core and being a stalker. I did not like how he never listened to Nora, evaded her personal space, grabbed her, chased her and just all around forced his will upon her. He never really listened to her and when he would grab her and wouldn't back off, I just found that creepy and I wished Nora wouldn't have put up with it. She was such a push over when it came to Patch and I wish she would of be a strong girl who would of not let Patch treat her like that. There was a couple of things I liked about the story but overall there was just too much that I didn't like and I just don't get why it has such high ratings.

I've in the past, read the next book in the series because sometimes they get better, but I read the summary of the plot and it just doesn't sound that interesting, even though it has such high ratings.

Finally a book that goes right next to the Twilight series and Harry Potter in my forever favorite books. This book was perfect. It was full of mystery, little horror and love and romance. Everything you need in a good book. Also there aren't that many books like this about fallen angels or any angels and I quite like all the fantasy that this book brought to me. I can't wait for the next book. It was just perfect and I feel that the story is just starting. LOVED IT, TOTALLY!

I've seen this series on so many lists and have heard that it is really great but eh. I was surprised how quickly I actually finished it with how annoyed I was by it. It was fairly familiar to Twilight but with angels. Nora and Vee, my goodness, how many stupid, stupid, STUPID mistakes can you make?? I mean REALLY??? I get that some things were out of their control with their minds being messed with but for the most part they were just stupid. I get that teenagers can make dumb mistakes especially in books to have conflict and interesting plots but usually they at least get a little bit smarter as the book goes on and learn from their mistakes, but NOPE not Nora! Vee was really probably the worst best friend ever and not once were there any actions from her that made me believe she was a good person or friend. Patch, ugh....Patch. I just don't know about him. I feel if he really felt that strongly about Nora he would have acted differently. It was just too confusing. I never fully understood Elliot's role in the whole thing. His personality changed greatly and I just didn't understand his relationship with Jules. Was he being forced to do those things or was he doing them willingly? I felt it was never fully addressed. I do feel like it ended strongly and I am a little intrigued on where the story will go so I may continue to the next book to see if Nora grows some brains.

Hush, Hush was a quick easy read. Part of it were pretty creepy but overall I really enjoyed the story. I thought the sexual tension between Patch and Nora was intense. I also wanted their relationship to be more developed and, although that didn't really happen in this book, it looks like it will in the following books. Hush, Hush was kind of a build up as to whether or not Nora could trust Patch or if Patch was the bad guy. Interesting answer to that question but I can't say more or I'd spoil the book. Oh, and the cover is awesome.

The first time I checked out this book from the library, it didn't go so well... I disliked most of it but I wanted to keep going to see if it picked up. I had to give it back due to time constraints.

However, the second time was a whole different story. I don't know what changed, but I read it from where I had left it and it was so interesting now! I was engrossed in the plot (not the romance) and the supernatural elements it offers.

The ending was great and it made me want the sequel NOW! Fortunately, it was available at the library, but that's another story. The ending is full of action and there are plot twists, which was quite fun.

I find Nora Grey, the main character, to be quite resourceful and strong. And I love Patch, he's quite a lovely "bad" guy. He's ambiguous and that's why he's fun.

Now, I don't believe in the romance between Nora and Patch. It's just... they're madly in love after only a year of knowing each other? I don't know, this doesn't seem right. I would have preferred it if it happened in the next books of the series. Then, it would have made sense and perhaps I could have rooted for them.

Besides that, yes, the way the villains explain their whole history and plan is quite cheesy. Nevertheless, if one can put the negative points aside, this is a really fun story. Angels, fallen angels, Nephilim... I just love it! :)

Plan and simple? I simply adored this book! Intelligent and driven female protagonist? Check! Deep and brooding (and handsome) male character? Check! Story that makes me want to read until I finish despite the fact that I know the morning is quickly approaching? Check, check check!Nora Grey embodies everything I love in a female main character. She is intelligent, motivated, and yes she is stubborn. Oh how I love a stubborn protagonist! I try not to compare books when I read, however sometimes there is no way around it. My mind will insist on feeding me the title of another book that is similar until I acknowledge that little voice and move on! This book reminded me of Twilight, with the exception that Nora would definitely kick Edward in the behind. Thus, why he was paired with Bella, and Nora was paired with Patch.Ah, Patch. I'll admit it. I am a sucker for the evil boyfriend type. I know there is much buzz both negative and positive surrounding this type of character, but I truly enjoy them! Patch is deliciously evil in the best way possible. He has that dark and brooding air about him, that makes Nora interested in him but still pushes her away at the same time. Watching Nora's mental battle between attraction and disgust was really what won me over. She was constantly able to reason with herself, rather then letting herself just fall. I think Nora should start some therapy and self-defense classes for other main characters.Add in a roller coaster ride of a plot, and you have me hooked. Becca Fitzpatrick knows how to craft a story that will keep you reading despite the fact that your eyes are closing on their own. Yes my friends, if you fall in love with this story you will find yourself battling sleep to find out what happens to Nora and Patch! That coupled with what I mentioned above makes this a book I will definitely own and fanatically recommend.

    Spoilers-~-~-
Nora is a book worm with a boy crazy best friend named Vee. They do what any two teenage girls do in high-school that are opposites. Vee wants to push Nora into a social life that includes boys, and Nora pushes Vee into actually doing school work. Nora's father was shot and now Nora is scared to let ppl in.

She first meet Patch, our fallen angel lover boy. He's got the whole bad boy thing going on. Where it seems like he's teasing Nora. Since he's been keeping tabs on her, it starts out with him knowing a lot about her, and never letting her know about him. He can push thoughts and images into her head. So when she's on a roller coaster ride with him and falls to her death, she doesn't really, it's just what he put into her head.

Then while at breakfast with Vee she meets, Elliot and Jules. Eliot ends up going to school with the girls after xfering there, after an "incident" at his prep school. The incident being he was accused of killing his girlfriend and hanging her from a tree. He was cleared because in her apartment that had been broken into they found a note. Turns out Elliot did kill his girlfriend because Jules basically made him choose between love and money.

Jules is a nephilim, who Patch made swear his fealty to him years ago. His real name is Chauncey, but I prefer typing Jules. This allows Patch to possess his body for two weeks a year. Let's just say that Jules is beyond pissed off, and is trying to kill Nora because Patch falls in love with her. What Jules doesn't know is that Nora is a descendant to his own bloodline. What this means, if Nora as a female descendant to one of Patch's vassal bloodlines, if she dies, Patch can become human. Which is what he's wanted for years. That would also kill Jules.

So in the end Nora kills herself for Patch, to let him become human, and to kill Jules. But Patch does the whole, what's the point of living if i have to live without you bit. That ended up making him refuse her sacrifice, and him saving her in one she-bang. Therefore, making him a guardian angel. Nora's to be specific.

I put off reading Hush, Hush for a very long time, and to be completely honest, the only reason I picked it up now was because I found it for a really great price. I put this book of for so long because of all the hype. I’m not the biggest fan of angel books to begin with, and I have been let down so many times before by books that have a lot of hype around them. So I just kept putting this one off. Why? Why didn’t I just cave and read it sooner. It is amazing, and definitely deserves all the hype. There are so many times I wanted to smack Patch but there were also times I would laugh out loud, shaking my head at how cocky he is. Patch is an infuriating, but incredible character. As is Nora.Fitzpatricks writing is so easy to read and the plot is so great that you just need to keep reading. I need to go buy book two, Crescendo. Actually, I need to go out and buy all of them.

Dang. I came away from this book feeling ______? I don't really know. It was good. It was different. I feel like I've been on a mind trip. Probably because I read it for five hours straight.

Nora doesn't seem to be the brightest thing. But maybe that's because someone is getting into her head and making her think and see things. Pretty eerie. I had no idea what to think of all the guys in the novel. They were all mysterious. Chauncey, Patch, Elliot, and Jules. They all sent out the creep vibe. Who's really the bad guy? Vee is Nora's fun friend, who seems to be a bit reckless, but I liked her.

Their are some steamy moments where yes, I'm screaming, "I would let a fallen angel possess me!" But the novel's a clean read. No foul language either.

Just the overall feel. Messing with a fallen angel is bound to leave you . . . hallow? I can't describe it.

This book did echo that of Twilight. I can't believe I said that, but...stupid girl, shady guy. Other shady guys vying for your attention. Classic wrap up scene with villain, just like in Twilight.

Um, now that I think about it, I think it was the steam factor that won me. Yummo.
And I've read other angel novels. They just didn't do it for me. I was surprised that I liked this one.

Some people will like this if they are into stalker-ish kind of love or the paranormal mystery. It was mysterious, yes, but I did not get the feel of liking it.

Nora thought she was normal until her life was in the brink of death. Some supernatural beings somewhat possesses her and forging her reality. And these supernatural feelings tend to stalk her because they wanted something from her either love or hate. They were angels (fallen or partly angels). Patch was the fallen angel who tried to sacrifice her to have a human body but fell in love with her.

Nora was full of: Patch looks dangerous but alluring, wanted to run but can not move her body (Run ad infinitum), and Patch have that mysterious thing that draws her into him even though he looks frightening. Frightening? How would you be allured if a guy looks frightening? If a guy looks frightening, I bet he looks like a zombie, a ghost or an anaconda or something. jk.

On the other hand, her friend Vee was so desperate with boys. I really hate her character, so annoying. A friend should support her friend and not force her to date guys just because, well, good looking. It was always her fault why Nora's always in trouble. And her attitude of very excited to discuss sex was a little disturbing. I mean, could you be more indiscreet? And speaking of that lesson, their biology teacher was teaching them attraction and stuff that will lead to sex, wasn't it a little off? Biology is study of life and not how to make...you got the picture. (but no worries, it does not contain PG stuff)

But there's humor in it, I find some retorts good. I like the last 1/3 of it.

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick is a fantasy book I picked up from the library and made the mistake of starting right before going to bed, and being so good, I had to stay up to finish it! The awesome cover caught my eye but the brilliant writing kept me reading. The Fallen angel, the mysteries, the attempt on Nora's life, and why was the Fallen there? The plot was extremely well played and the characters well developed. Book was great enough for me to lose sleep over, lol. It had everything I needed to keep turning the pages. Great job!

First, let me know what a beautiful cover.

I had a really hard time getting through this book, I won't lie. I kind of predicted parts of the end throughout the book (that Ms. Greene was bad news and that either Jules or Elliott was the one trying to kill Nora and it was all somehow connected to Patch), so that was kind of a bummer. I didn't really start getting into the plot until around pg300 when the action started happening. Before that I was mostly just annoyed that Patch wouldn't tell Nora what was going on since obviously something was, but hey that would defeat the purpose of the book if they just cut to the chase! Anyway, I thought the ending was good with Patch not accepting Nora as his sacrifice and now he is her guardian.

If I hadn't bought the book as a box set, I probably wouldn't read the rest of the series... But since I own all four I will finish the series up eventually. Truthfully the only thing keeping me going is picturing hottie Patch as Theo James. That in itself if enough for me to keep reading. It's not a top priority, though I am told the books get better as it all goes on. We'll see.
