The President's Brain is Missing is a hilarious short story by John Scalzi that explores the absurd consequences of a president whose brain has gone missing. The story follows a senior White House staffer as he tries to figure out what has happened to the president's brain and how to get it back.
Scalzi's writing is witty and sharp, and he skewers the political establishment with a deft hand. The story is also surprisingly suspenseful, as the staffer races against time to prevent a national crisis.
Here are some of the things I enjoyed about the story:
* **The premise is absurdly funny.** The idea of a president without a brain is just too ridiculous not to laugh at. Scalzi does a great job of milking the concept for all its comedic value. * **The characters are well-developed.** The staffer at the center of the story is a likable and relatable protagonist. The other characters, including the president himself, are all drawn with humor and insight. * **The story is suspenseful.** Even though you know that Scalzi is going to end the story on a humorous note, you can't help but wonder how he's going to get there. The story is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.Overall, _The President's Brain is Missing_ is a delightful and entertaining read. It's a perfect story for anyone who enjoys a good laugh and a clever political satire.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Hilarious. Loved it. Got me through a workout. Don't have any more words.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Scalzi's concept was amazing but the writing was really distracting; he doesn't use any alternatives to the word "said". I have noticed the same in previous books of his that I have read and it just makes the writing quite repetitive. Overall I liked the ideas portrayed and the ending especially but it could have been a longer piece.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fun and irreverent. Just thought I expect from John Scalzi.
