Grandpa loved his black cat Puss, who always joined him at dinnertime (usually for fish and chips!), and slept in the same bed as he did. His neighbors, the Jones family, loved their cat Twinkles, who always ate breakfast with them, and had her own basket. Lady Daisy, who lived on the same street, loved her cat Arthur, who was always there for lunch, and slept on three special pillows. When all three cats went missing, and their humans went looking for them, it transpired that Puss, Twinkles and Arthur were all the same cat! This led to a dilemma for the humans, until it was revealed that Puss had had kittens...A delightful and heartwarming story is paired with beautiful watercolor artwork in Twinkles, Arthur and Puss, a picture-book that reminded me rather strongly of Inga Moore's wonderful Six-Dinner Sid. Of course, the resolution here is a bit different than in the Moore book, although the initial set-up is quite similar. As someone who has read almost all of Judith Kerr's wonderful stories about that forgetful cat Mog, I went into this one fully expecting to enjoy it, and I was not disappointed. Puss is a clever kitty, and her adventures are sure to win a chuckle from cat-lovers young and old, while the artwork will please long-time Kerr fans.
