About this audiobook
After eighteen years of marriage, Kathy Walker has settled into a pattern of comfortable routines—ferrying her two teenagers between soccer practice and piano lessons, running a film production business with her husband, Robert, and taking care of the beautiful Boston home they share. Then one day, Kathy discovers a suspicious number on her husband's phone. Six years before, Kathy accused Robert of infidelity—a charge he vehemently denied—and almost destroyed their marriage in the process.
Now Kathy must decide whether to follow her suspicions at the risk of losing everything, or trust the man with whom she's entwined her past, present, and future. As she grapples with that choice, she is confronted with surprising truths not just about her relationship, but about her friends, family, and her own motivations.
Skillfully crafted and deeply insightful, The Affair sensitively explores the complexities of love and the challenge of ever knowing another person fully, even as we endeavor to understand our own deepest longings.

I enjoyed reading The Affair by Colette Freedman. I did like the IDEA of getting the three points of view - the wife, the husband and the mistress. But, as it turned out, I was bored when reading the same conversation or scene for the third time. But it was a quick read and I read it in one day. I thought it was a creative idea and it was interesting to read a book with a different format. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

This is the first book I can recall ever reading where you to the perspective of all the characters over the same time period. The Affair is the story of each person in this triangle of love. Hearing everyone's story as individuals makes it hard to dislike any particular person in the affair. You can sympathize with all off them. You can understand the wife's anger at her husband for seeking a relationship outside of their marriage but also seeing that she had fault in the wall forming between the two of them. She unconsciously become the housewife and mother when she stopped working the business. He stopped discussing the business with her because she was busy and he thought she had no interest in the business anymore...or him since they had also stopped being affectionate with each other.
The husband sought that affection from someone else, whom he eventually realized reminded him a lot of his wife. The mistress never planned to be a mistress but got a sense that the couple had severed ties emotionally and felt that it was okay to start a relationship with this man.
In the end, the affair ended in a very adult way. Too bad all triangles don't end "amicably".
