About this audiobook
This is the story of Barbara and Larry Savage's sometimes dangerous, often zany, but ultimately rewarding 23,000-mile global bicycle odyssey, which took them through twenty-five countries in two years. Miles From Nowhere is an adventure not to be missed!
Along the way, these near-neophyte cyclists encountered warmhearted strangers eager to share food and shelter, bicycle-hating drivers who shoved them off the road, various wild animals (including a roof ape and an attack camel), sacred cows, rock-throwing Egyptians, overprotective Thai policeman, motherly New Zealanders, meteorological disasters, bodily indignities, and great personal joys. The stress of traveling together constantly for two years tested and ultimately strengthened the young couple's relationship.
As their trip ends you'll find yourself yearning for Barbara and Larry to mount back up and keep pedaling. It's a story that makes you feel like you've grown right along with the author.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5If you enjoy listening to endless hours detailing bowel movements, turds, crap in its many forms, diarrhea, parasites, dropping (& leaving) a deuce in a public shower, and extremely vivid description of some of the nastiest facilities on earth, then this audiobook is definitely for you!! The actual cycling adventure that was sprinkled in the book and was unfortunately overpowered by the above received 4 stars while the rest of the crappy content got a generous 0 stars. Sometimes less is more.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm really glad I listened to this book. I now know that I have no desire to bike the world. It would be more stress than I would ever wish to endure. Still, I did thoroughly enjoy tagging along on Barbara and Larry's adventure. I admire their bravery and tenacity.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the whole book, found it inspiring and instructive.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While the concept of bicycling around the world didn't intrigue me at first, it was well written I thoroughly enjoyed it
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Story is great, 5 stars there. However, the New Zealand accent used by the narrator was horrendous. Like nails on a chalkboard bad.
