The man who has spent four years walking the British coast

IN AUGUST, former paratrooper Chris Lewis celebrated an important anniversary: four years since he set out to walk the entire perimeter of the UK.

Originally from Wales, Chris struck off north from the Gower in 2017 with just £10 in his pocket and a backpack stocked with borrowed supplies. When The Great Outdoors spoke to him at the end of July he’d rounded Scotland and was heading south past Newcastle. En route, Chris has clocked up an estimated 13,000 miles of walking and raised more than £205,000 for SSAFA, the armed forces charity.
