It was about President Barack Obama who was always trying to find his way along his journey. He finally did and he knew it was to help the people and community around him. He is a great President and I can not wait to see what else he has in store for us. I love reading biographies about the President.

This is an informational book, where we can learn about the president of the United States. I highly recommend it because it talks about some of the things he had to go through in his life. We can learn more about our president as a person.

This is a beautifully written and illustrated story for children. It's an inspirational story of self-discovery that also imparts our American values of pursuing one's dreams with hard work and perseverance. I highly recommend this and Winter's other children's biographies if you want your children to enjoy learning about about history and culture through truly inspirational life stories.

I loved reading this biography about Barack Obama. It gave me a lot of insight into his life. I never knew about his history and who he was. All I see is who he is, not what made him that way. I hate politics, but I love the fact that I lived to see the day when an African American man made president. Now all I need to see is a woman president and I'll be satisfied. Throughout history we've only had old, white guys. That doesn't give ALL children the hope that they could be president! The only thing that I don't think is right is how much race plays into the factor of voting. You shouldn't vote based on race. We're trying to get our children to see each other as equal, not superior because of skin pigments. Base your vote on what the man (or woman) has to offer, not what (s)he looks like. Race should not be THAT big of a deal.

Throughout his life Barack Obama had alway felt out of place and not sure where he belonged. But through his life's journey, he discovered that he is a part of a large human family. Because he cares for this family, he wants to help those who need his help. His determination to help a suffering America led him to becoming the first African-American president in history. This book should definitely inspire the youth.

This is a fine children's biography of Barack Obama. It simples and eloquently traces his physical journey from Hawaii to Indonesia, back to Hawaii and then Illinois. Intertwined in the telling is a poetic description of his emotional journey in coming to understand who he is and where he belongs. This compelling storytelling clearly shows the reader how such an individual made it into the white house, including his the value he places on helping others, inclusiveness, social justice, and world peace.The realistic, full color illustrations beautifully accompany the storyline. The paintings including Barack are strikingly photographic in quality.

This is a tribute to Barack Obama. The story tell about where his parents came from and the places he lived as a child. It tell how his life experiences and being part African and part caucasian made him the person he is today. It has an inspirational feel. Your character makes you who you are. Viually appealling illustrations.

Despite the complexity of Barack Obama’s life, the storytelling kept things simple and was at times quite moving. The art was well integrated with the text and often chose poetic angles; one painting showed Barack as a boy with his absent Kenyan father (who was visiting him in Hawaii)—they’re standing in front of a shop window in which their reflections, somber-faced and yet frought with submerged emotion, stare back. This is a great introduction to our future President’s life story.
