It's the first novel by Hawthorne that I read, and I really liked it. It has a fairly simple and enjoyable narrative resource, the story has a very creative context, a tale of family vengeance, the puritanism of the time, witchcraft, a house with ghostly elements, family members suffering from those past actions, it has all the elements to create a great story.
