As a part of a deal with my niece, I agreed to read the first book of the Seekers series and she agreed to read Number the Stars. I didn't like the cover of the book, and was not thrilled to read about three bear cubs of different species going on some sort of quest. The book turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The author researched bear behavior and integrates this into the story. The way the bears view humans and human inventions is also somewhat clever. The book addresses the effects that climate change and human actions have on bear populations. The character development is better than I'd expected. It is probably more like a 3.5 star book, but I am rounding up because it was a pleasant surprise. It was good enough that I put the second book of the series on hold at the library.

Seekers is a wonderful series for young readers. The story follows several young protagonists (bears) on an epic quest to save their way of life. The tale shows the earth from their point of view and points out all the harm people are causing to the environment without even realizing it. Because of this constant environmentalist theme throughout the story we see quite a few tragic turns in the tale but that just makes it all the more compelling to read on. I am confident that anyone who reads these books will come out of it with quite a different view on how important the environment is to other creatures and how we should respect it even more.

i thought the book was okay it is not my favorite book. its about 3 cubs that ether had there mom die , abandon them or the cub escaped from there parents

The first in the series of books about bears from the creators of The Warrior Series. This book tells the stories of the cubs Kallik (polar), Toklo (grizzly), and Lusa (black), and the problems they face on their seperate journies, which include territorial bears, humans, and global warming.

Their mothers tell them all of a special place they can find if the follow a certain star. Each species has their own story for the star, but they all follow it, so far. They should meet later in the series.

The book the seekers the quest by Erin Hunter was an astounding and terrific read especially for those who love animals. Being an animal lover myself I found myself connected to the story. It was an inspiring and touching read that I find great for young adult readers everywhere.

The book is about three different bears one a polar bear, one a black bear, and one who is a grizzly bear. The are each orfined as cubs and find themselves meeting as they fight for survival. In a world filled with humans "or as the bears call them flat faces" who are locking them in zoos or ruining there means means of food these bears must survive. The story itself was good but the way Erin wrote it makes it so much better.

Erin's use of dialog and description make this book even better. She makes it feel like your right there with the bears. Enduring there hard ships and celebrating when they are celebrating. Just like the warriors series Erin show her fantastic skills with her writing and her usual yet enjoyable taste of dialog and excellent description!

This is a book a bout three bears. Two of them meat up but where is the third one at? Well she is still looking for her brother. The two first bears meat in the forest and one of the bears has a hitch hiker with him that can transform into animals and humans too! The three bears family's have all died when they where young. They don't know how to hunt to well. If they work together then they can survive the winter. But one of the bears don't know how to hunt. Because she use to live in a zoo but she got out into the wild. Read the book to find out more.

To me the book is saying that no matter how different you are you can make friends with any one. This book has no romance and a lot of action but can be a bit funny. This is a adventure book for people that love a good adventures. You will see the world through the bear's eyes. Soon the three bears will come together in the 2ed book. You will see the world differently than you do before you read the book. You will read that what we do is making the bears and the rest of the world hard to live in.It is a book that is hard to put down.

I wanted to read Seekers because I was already reading Warriors(big fan btw).So I started to read the Seekers series.I loved The Quest Begins.A bit was shared by each bear.How each bear lost something,Lusa left behind her family in the bearbowl(a zoo)and shared a connection with Oka when she came to the bearbowl,Toklo lost both his mother (Oka)and brother(Tobi),and Kallik lost her mother(Nisa)her brother(Taqquiq,for now...)and her foster mother(Nanuk).Each one set off to find each other,to go to the place the North star was leading them to,following each there own type of religion.Lusa follows the bears spirits of the trees,Toklo follows the bear spirits of the river,and Kallik follows the bear spirits of the ice.I highly recamened it.

I started this because I love bears, but I had to quit because it is too sad. No spoilers, but there are many sad things in the first six chapters, so I skipped to the end and there were even more sad things! So I quit. I don't need so many sad bears in my life.

I found the varied cultures of the bears quite interesting. Typically when you read a book about animals having a culture of their own all of the animals of the same species believe the same thing. What was fascinating here was watching the three bears (Polar, Black and Brown) have similar and yet different ways of looking at the stars, seeing death and even being grateful for their food. I can’t help but wonder what will happen as they start to encounter each other on their journey. Though the shape shifting cub seemed odd or out of place to me, I very much enjoyed the book, which reminded me quite a bit of books I’ve read by David Clement-Davies, only without the prophecies involved.
