I Love this Book!!! It is so exhilarating. I’ve read all of the books of the following series by Kathryn Lasky and have loved them: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, The Wolves of the Beyond, and The Bears of the Ice. I would totally recommend this book and all of the books to these series! PS. All of these series’s turn into one huge story! But you have to read them in the order I wrote them. I hope you enjoy!!!

The author of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole has turned her attention to the wolf packs that live beyond the owl world in a new series entitled ‘Wolves of the Beyond’. A young wolf pup is abandoned at birth because of his deformity; a splayed paw. He is saved from certain death by a female grizzly bear, Thunderheart, whose own cub was killed. The wolf cub, Faolan, experiences an upbringing very different to those of other wolf cubs. When his foster mother dies he must carry on alone. He discovers an ancient cave which tells the story of his kind, prompting him to seek out his birth pack. This is a thrilling tale of adventure and discovery, Lone Wolf will have you living it as a reality.I enjoyed this book because it is exciting, adventurous, and cleverly written. I recommend this book for people who enjoy a good animal story and rate it 5 out of 5.

Finally something different in a beautiful way. I love how Fae-Lin questions the important aspects of his coming to being. I'm glad I switched Audiobooks apps so I don't have to wait a month(or pay) to continue on to the next book. I'm excited to see what's in-store for this brave little wolf who has beat the odds from his first breath while nothing but danger and strife find him at every turn. I would've loved to have seen Thunder Heart played out more and her back storyline instead of over describing scenery or how cold the waters were.

The way Faolan was born unto the world was throughout an owl, a grizzly bear, and first, a wolf. In this wonderful saga, I have been surprised, enchanted, and amazed at Kathryn Lasky's incredible series and writing. Continue to listen to this incredible saga, and you will enjoy this story. Make sure to have a cuddly teddy nearby near the end! (It gets a bit scary.)

I loved the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series so I've been eager to start this spin off for a long time. Lone Wolf is definitely not as good IMO, but I will continue with the Wolves of the Beyond series. My daughter is currently reading them also so it's fun for us to do something together.

As an infant cub, Faolin was taken from his mother and abandoned to die. He was found by a bear who nursed him through childhood. Now as a young wolf, Faolin is once again on his own and he must find a way to rejoin his own kind. This was a cute little story, and I enjoyed it. But I don't think I would have enjoyed it half as much if I hadn't read the Ga'Hoole books first. Although the story of Faolin is independent of the three story lines in the Ga'Hoole series, Lasky's world-building in this book was a bit dependent upon the other books. The world would have seemed confusing and frustrating to me if I didn't already know all about it from the Ga'Hoole books. This is why I gave the book only 3.5 stars even though I thought it was really sweet. I will continue with this series myself, but I recommend to all of you - continue with this book if you loved the Ga'Hoole books as I did. But if you haven't read the Ga'Hoole books, start there. :)

All alone, the bitter cold and darkness threaten to steal the life from the tiny, splay-pawed wolf pup left by a pack that accepts only perfect blood. As death creeps nearer to the helpless creature, his fate intertwines with that of a powerful grizzly bear forlorn over the end of her cub-bearing days. The malformed pup Faolan grows into one of the strongest, most majestic wolves to prowl The Beyond through the love and nurture of the proud grizzly. While still young and unwise to the elaborate systems that comprise his environment, Faolan embarks upon a quest that that will forever alter the world around him. Written by the author of the best seller The Guardians of Ga’Hoole, this first novel of a new series brims with vividly descriptive language that eloquently weaves an intricate tapestry of underlying meaning. A table of contents outlines the three parts of the novel corresponding to setting—The Beyond, The Outermost, and The Beyond—which are further broken into 9-10 chapters each. Although the large margins and moderate line spacing are indicative of appeal to a younger audience, the complexity with which the plot and tone are developed conveys an inspiring tale of courage, destiny, and spirit will appeal to readers of any age.

A very catching and lovely written wolf novel.

Foalan, the abandoned pup, risen by a grizzly, destined to be a gnaw wolf finally comes back to his pack. At the end of this book it's not really clear if this is a good thing or not.

There are refences to the Ga'Hoole books and the owls. I haven't read those books (yet), but they fit nicely into here. Gwynneth, the rogue smith, is a very fascinating character and very likeable.
I really wonder how the story about Faolan will go on.

A new series by the author of Guardians of Ga'Hoole. The owls of Ga'Hoole are referenced in this first book of the series. I never read any of the Ga'Hoole books so I can't compare the two series. Lone Wolf was good, but I'm not inclined to read more - it wasn't that good.

A wolf pup is left to die by his pack because his malformed foot is considered bad luck. A grizzly bear, Thunderheart, whose cubs have been killed, rescues Faolan and nurtures him until her accidental death. As the young wolf continues on alone, he discovers "the Cave Before Time" with wall paintings portraying the history of the wolves and realizes that he must return to his own kind and learn their ways. This anthropomorphic fantasy has a number of the traditional characters found in these tales, such as the young outcast Faolan; the wise and solitary Gwynneth, the owl; and the powerfully maternal Thunderheart. The relationship between the wolf and the bear is particularly touching as they develop a strong and loving bond. After her death, the story meanders a bit as Faolan deciphers the message in the cave.

This is a great book. I like how Faolon is raised by Thunderheart. I love how he progresses. He learns three lanugages and different techniques to catch food. I don't like how Thunderheart is killed. I like how Faolon meet Gwynneth and she made a metal object of the spiral on his foot. I don't like how the wolves hunt him down because they thought he had rabies. Overall this book is worth reading. It's a 5/5.
