Barbara Lynch has won multiple James Beard awards, including Outstanding Restaurateur (only the second woman to win), an Amelia Earhart award for success as a woman in a male-dominated field, and the Relais & Château designation of Grand Chef (one of only six in North America). She is the owner of Barbara Lynch Gruppo, which encompasses seven celebrated restaurants, including No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, Drink, Sportello, and Menton. Three of her restaurants are anchored in and have spurred the revitalization of South Boston, her lifelong home. In 2017, she was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lynch has led a fascinating life, and she writes about it in an entertaining way. I always heard that South Boston was a tough neighborhood, but I have a better sense of HOW tough after reading this. I know she tries to keep a foot in both worlds--that of Southie, and that of the elite restaurant industry, but they seem so different--it must be tough. I especially liked reading about how she developed her restaurants.
