About this audiobook
The Lux Radio Theatre was radio's most important dramatic hour, commanding the top Hollywood stars, the biggest budgets - the best writing, directing, and sound effects. Cecil B. DeMille, the longtime host, was often shown in publicity photographs as overseeing every aspect of each broadcast, but the reality is that the shows real directors - Tony Stanford, Frank Woodruff, Fred MacKaye and Earl Ebi - did all of the heavy lifting from week to week, including keeping the star's egos in check and making sure everything went off without a hitch.
Volume 1 offers 10 broadcasts of The Lux Radio Theatre, just as originally aired over CBS in 1945 and 1947, transferred directly from rare transcription recordings and fully restored for outstanding audio fidelity.
Chapters: #1 It Disputed Passage; #2 The Devil and Miss Jones; #3 Grissley's Millions; #4 Swanee River; #5 The Suspect; #6 Only Yesterday; #7 The Petrified Forest; #8 The Canterville Ghost; #9 I'll Be Seeing You; #10 National Velvet.
