This a good book to explain dirt and how it is made and what it consists of. It does a good job of including academic language and explainign the processes of decomping and erosion with clear illustrations. as well as the role soil plays in our world. The text is great for teaching informational text structure. This book includes a table of contents, glossary, index, fun facts section as well a science experiment at the end of the book. There is also a listof web resources and further reading if students wanted or needed to do further exploration ofn this topic. The book is appropriate for k-3 level readers or lower readers in higher grades.
