- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This graphic novel talks about Benjamin Franklin. Franklin was born in 1706, and he died in 1790. This book tells how he helped America during the Revolutionary War. It talks about his inventions and he did not have his inventions patented. He was a writer, and also he wrote Poor Richard's Almanack. He invented bifocal glasses. Benjamin Franklin is an important figure in American History. Benjamin Franklin played a big part during the American Revolution. He also help draft the Declaration Of Independence. He helped write the United States Constitution. If you were teaching a thematic unit about Benjamin Franklin, I believe this would be a good book to use for that. This book tells about his life, writing career, inventions, and how he helped America. By looking at this book, students could see how many different occupations he had during his life time. An idea that I think is important is that we as teachers and students need to spend more time learning about important people in our history such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and many more. I remember when I took the US History state test, there were questions about the Revolutionary War. Students need to know this information. It might be good if we as teachers required students to read books about important people in history. I personally do not think it would hurt a student to be required to read a novel about history in a history class. I woud give this book a rating of 5. I honestly liked this book. I would rather read this type of book about Ben Franklin, than having to sit down and read a history book about him. This book had pictures to go along with the words. I think for a elementary student reading this book , the pictures would really help convey the message. This book tells about the different occupations Ben Franklin had during his life time. Ben Franklin is known for writing Poor Richard's Almanack. Franklin helped Thomas Jefferson draft the Declaration of Independence. In 1787, he helped write the United States Constitution. When America, won the Revolutionary War, Franklin returned home to Philadelphia, he helped open America's first public library and fire station. There was many other buildings he helped to open during his time. Benjamin Franklin invented many different items. He did not have inventions patented. Franklin was involved in the peacemaking effort before the start of the Revolutionary War. He spent had good amount of time in England. Benjamin Franklin married a woman named Deborah Read Rogers in 1730. His wife stayed at home to care for children. She died while on one of his trips to England.
