The people are of all the various shades that people come in, and it refers to the "parents" on the bus comforting their baby rather than the "mums" (or "mommies"), so that covers the two main issues I've had with other wheels on the bus books/videos. And the pulltabs are fun, and I like that they mix standard verses like the wipers on the bus go swish swish swish with new ones (you are expecting the people on the bus to go up and down and instead they go bumpity-bump, and if you're two that's some excitement), and basically the only thing I have against it is that it's not Raffi.

This book from Paul O. Zelinsky presents the classic children's song "The Wheels on the Bus" in print. Like the song with its many hand motions, this book is interactive. It invites the reader to pull tabs and see wheels spin around, windows go up and down, babies make sad faces, etc. This is certainly a creative approach and a fun way to share this song with young ones in yet another way. Since many kids are already familiar with this song, even pre-readers can "read" this book to themselves using context cues and the song's repetition. One important thing I noticed is that my copy of the book - taken out of the library - had many damaged or completely torn off pieces. Clearly this book doesn't stand up well to wear and tear. For that reason, I would recommend this for personal use rather than a classroom or library.

A great book for children to learn how things are moving: open and shut, back and forth, up and down, etc. It's a fun song you can sing while learning what these words mean!
