I always find Choices “Your Money and your rights’ pages a good read as I work on the fringes of financial services, and Teri Harman’s piece in the March2022 edition on energy bills prompted me to take a closer look at the government’s “rebate’ in light of the horrendous increases in prices we are currently seeing.
I wasn’t aware of the additional £150 nonrepayable amount available to households in council tax bands A to D for both myself and my mum. But, beyond that, this whole situation, as well as the spike in inflation being experienced throughout the economy, really makes me think about those on lower fixed incomes and no savings.
My mum is one of those, and l already pay her a small amount each
